Privacy Policy for Image Compressor
Privacy Policy for Image Compressor
Developer: Wifipasswordshow Last updated: 1 September 2026
The short version
Image Compressor does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information. Your photos are processed entirely on your own device. The app contains no ads, no analytics, no tracking of any kind, and no user accounts. It does not request internet access, so it is technically unable to send anything anywhere.
1. About this policy
This policy explains how the Android application Image Compressor ("the app"), published by Wifipasswordshow ("we", "us"), handles information. It applies to the app distributed through Google Play.
By installing and using the app you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
2. Information we do not collect
We do not collect any of the following:
- Your name, email address, phone number, or any other contact detail
- Your photos, images, or the files you compress
- Location data
- Device identifiers, advertising IDs, or IP addresses
- Usage statistics, analytics events, or crash telemetry gathered by us
- Contacts, call logs, messages, or calendar entries
We do not create user accounts and we do not operate any server that receives data from the app. There is no database of users, because there is nothing to put in it.
3. How your photos are handled
Everything the app does happens on your device:
- You choose which photos to add using the Android photo picker or by sharing images into the app. The app has no access to any other photo on your device.
- The selected photos are read, resized, and re-encoded locally by your device's own processor.
- Your original photos are never modified, moved, or deleted. The app only ever creates new copies.
- Nothing is uploaded. The app does not hold the Android internet permission (android.permission.INTERNET), so it cannot transmit your images or anything else over a network.
Photo metadata
Photos often carry EXIF metadata such as GPS coordinates, camera model, and the date the picture was taken. Compressed copies produced by this app do not carry that metadata forward. It is dropped during compression, so a compressed copy you share reveals less about you than the original would.
4. Permissions the app uses
Photo selection (Android 11 and above). The app uses the system photo picker. You pick specific photos and the app receives access only to those. No broad storage permission is requested.
Storage write (Android 9 and below only). Requested only when you tap "Save to gallery", so the compressed file can be written into your Pictures folder. On Android 10 and above this permission is not requested at all.
The app does not request access to the camera, microphone, location, contacts, phone state, or the internet.
5. Files the app creates on your device
- Temporary working files. While you are compressing, results are held in the app's own private cache folder, which no other app can read. They are removed when you clear the list inside the app, when you clear the app's cache in Android settings, or when you uninstall the app.
- Saved files. When you tap "Save to gallery", a copy is written to Pictures/ImageCompressor on your device. These files belong to you. The app does not track, index, or report them, and they remain on your device after uninstalling unless you delete them yourself.
6. Sharing with third parties
We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise share any information, because we do not have any information to share.
The app integrates no advertising networks, no analytics providers, and no third-party software development kits that collect data.
When you use the share button, Android hands the compressed file to whichever app you choose from the system share sheet. From that point the file is governed by the privacy policy of the app you selected, not by this one. We have no visibility into, or control over, what happens after you share.
7. Google Play
The app itself sends nothing to us or to Google. Separately from the app, Google Play may collect information about installs, device compatibility, and app stability in accordance with Google's own privacy policy. That collection is performed by the Google Play platform, not by this app, and we receive only anonymous aggregate statistics through the Play Console. You can read Google's policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy
8. Children's privacy
The app is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. Since no information is collected at all, there is nothing for a parent or guardian to request the deletion of. If you have any concern about this, please contact us.
9. Your rights
Privacy laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, export, or delete personal data that a company holds about you. We hold no personal data about you, so there is nothing to access, correct, export, or delete on our side.
All data produced by the app stays on your device and remains fully under your control. You can remove it at any time by deleting the files, clearing the app's storage from Android settings, or uninstalling the app.
10. Security
Because your images are never transmitted or stored on any server, they are not exposed to the risks that come with network transfer or cloud storage. Files created by the app inside its own cache are protected by Android's standard application sandbox and are not readable by other applications.
11. Changes to this policy
If the app changes in a way that affects this policy, we will update this page and change the "Last updated" date at the top. If a future version were ever to collect any information, we would say so clearly here before that version was released. We recommend checking this page occasionally.
