Status Download for Android

Status Download saves statuses you have already viewed in your own chat app to your phone's gallery. It reads only the folder you point it at, and nothing it reads is uploaded anywhere.

Who this policy covers

This policy explains how the Status Download Android app handles information. It applies only to the app, published on Google Play by Wifipasswordshow.

The app is an independent tool. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by WhatsApp, Meta, or any other messaging service. All product names belong to their respective owners.

Your statuses never leave your device

The app asks you once to select the folder where your chat app stores statuses, using Android's own folder picker. That grant is read-only.

The app reads the photos and videos in that folder so it can show them to you, and copies the ones you choose into your gallery. Those files are never uploaded, transmitted, or sent anywhere.

There is no server behind this app and no account to sign in to. Your files stay on your device, under your control, and are gone when you delete them.

You can withdraw the folder access at any time from Android Settings, or by clearing the app's data. The app then simply asks you to pick a folder again the next time you open it.

What the app stores on your phone

The app keeps a small amount of information on your device only. None of it is transmitted:

  • The folder you granted access to, so you are not asked for it again
  • Your chosen language, and whether you have seen the intro screens
  • Whether you purchased the ad-free upgrade
  • Counters used to decide when to show a rating prompt or an ad

Clearing the app's data or uninstalling the app removes all of this. Statuses you already saved to your gallery are not removed, because they are yours.

Information collected by Google services

The app includes Google SDKs that collect data under their own terms. Each one is listed below with what it collects and why.

Google AdMob — advertising

Collects
Advertising ID, IP address, device model and OS version, ad interactions
Purpose
Serving and measuring ads, limiting repeat ads, fraud prevention
Their policy
policies.google.com/technologies/ads

Firebase Analytics — usage measurement

Collects
Advertising ID, a pseudonymous app instance ID, in-app events such as screens opened and features used, device model, OS version, approximate country
Purpose
Understanding which features are used, so the app can be improved
Their policy
firebase.google.com/support/privacy

Firebase Crashlytics — crash reporting

Collects
Crash stack traces, a Crashlytics installation ID, device state at the time of the crash, app version, OS version
Purpose
Diagnosing and fixing crashes
Their policy
firebase.google.com/support/privacy

Google Play Billing — the ad-free upgrade

Collects
Payment is handled entirely by Google Play. The app receives only whether a purchase exists, never your card or billing details.
Purpose
Unlocking the ad-free upgrade and restoring it on a new device
Their policy
policies.google.com/privacy

The app never sends your statuses, photos, videos, file names, contacts, messages, or location to these services or to anyone else.

Permissions and why they are needed

Every permission the app declares.
PermissionWhy it is needed
INTERNETLoading ads and sending analytics and crash reports. It is not used to transmit your files.
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATERequired by the ads SDK to check connectivity before requesting an ad.
WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGEAndroid 9 and older only, to save a status into your gallery. Not requested on Android 10 or newer.
AD_IDAccess to the Advertising ID, used by AdMob and Firebase Analytics.

The app deliberately does not request broad storage or media permissions. Access to your statuses comes only from the one folder you grant, and you can revoke it at any time in Android settings.

Advertising and your choices

The app is free and supported by ads. You can remove ads permanently with a one-time in-app purchase.

  • Reset or delete your Advertising ID in Android Settings, under Privacy then Ads. Deleting it stops personalised advertising.
  • Opt out of personalised ads from the same settings screen.
  • If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, a consent screen appears the first time the app loads an ad, where you can accept or refuse personalised advertising. You can change that choice later from the app's menu.

Retention and deletion

The app keeps nothing on a server, because there is no server. Settings stored on your device are removed when you clear the app's data or uninstall it.

Analytics and crash data are held by Google under their own retention schedules. To request deletion of data associated with your installation, email contact@wifipasswordshow.app with your device model and roughly when you used the app. Uninstalling the app stops any future collection.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 and is not intended for them. It does not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has used the app and you want the associated data removed, email contact@wifipasswordshow.app.

Security

All data sent by the Google SDKs described above travels over encrypted HTTPS connections. Your statuses and saved files remain on your device, protected by Android's own storage and permission model.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted at this address with a new effective date. Continuing to use the app after that means you accept the revised policy.

This policy is governed by the laws of India.
